Jeongol (hot pot) is a Korean-style hot pot made by adding meat, mushrooms, seafood, seasonings, etc. to a stew pot and boiled with soup. Jjigae are generally made with only one main ingredient and are named after their ingredients (kimchi jjigae, sundubu jjigae, etc.), whereas hot pots usually contain a variety of different types. Of the main ingredients. Another difference is that hot pot (gujeolpan, etc.) was originally a dish for the upper class and the court, while jjigae was a simpler dish for the commoners.
